2024 Tryout facts

Dear JLL Families,

It’s now officially time to start thinking about Baseball! The purpose of this e-mail is to outline tryout procedures which we have on Saturday, March 23rd for the upcoming season. Please remember only 9’s, 10’s, 11’s and 12’s have an actual tryout. The purpose of the tryout is to give our coaches an opportunity to evaluate kids within their division so upon the league draft they know more about the kid as a player. In the event you are unable to make the tryout, your son will still get placed/selected on a team during the draft, but it would probably occur at the bottom of the draft given some coaches will be unfamiliar with your son as a player. Each year we have new faces in the coaching ranks and often they are unfamiliar with kids in the division, so this tryout is really their opportunity to see your son prior to that draft and the selection of their team. If you have a conflict and need to miss that is fine, but understand there is not a make-up date.

If you are a coach, your son does NOT need to tryout. In fact, for the sake of time and space please do not bring him to the tryout. We are limited on time and we need to get through kids in a timely manner.

Each kid only needs to bring a glove and must be in street shoes. No CLEATS. We will have bats for the kids when they enter the hitting station that are Little League approved and we are asking that you do NOT bring a bat into the facility.

Once you enter the facility a member of our board will direct the player to the check in area where they will wait until it is their turn. We are going to ask for parents to remain in the parking lot as tryouts are closed, but more importantly there is not space to accommodate parents.

The following timeslots have been assigned and are as follows:

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM (9’s)

A-M @ 9:00 AM

N-Z @ 9:30 AM

* Coaches arrive at 8:45 AM

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM (10’s)

A-M @ 10:00 AM

N-Z @ 10:30 AM

* Coaches arrive at 9:45AM

11:00 AM - Noon (11’s)

A-M @ 11:00 AM

N-Z @ 11:30 AM

* Coaches arrive at 10:45 AM

Noon – 1:00 PM (12’s)

A-M @ Noon

N-Z @ 12:30 PM

* Coaches arrive at 10:45 AM

It is our intention to stay on time and task, but we are trying to get kids through in a timely manner while also letting them showcase their skills. This should be and will be a fun experience for the kids and we anticipate this year being no different from previous years.

We are looking forward to getting started. Can’t wait to see your son on the 23rd!
