Johnston Advances to the Junior League World Series

The Juniors All-Star team won the Midwest Region and the Central Region Championships with wins over South Dakota and Indiana Thursday August 8th in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  The Game Changer game summary below documents their Central Region win earning them a berth in the Junior League World Series in Taylor Michigan.  Johnston fell in both their World Series contests, 7-1 to Florida & 10-5 to Michigan, but represented Johnston Little League well as one of the final 12 teams from a field of 1,500 teams globally to enter the tournament.

Big Fourth Inning Propels Johnston Junior All-Stars To Victory Over Indiana

Four runs in the fourth inning led Johnston Junior All-Stars past Indiana 7-1 on Thursday. Johnston Junior All-Stars batters contributing to the big inning included Carter Bryan, Daniel Grider, and Spencer Timmerman, who each had RBIs in the inning. Indiana got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Indiana.  Johnston Junior All-Stars knotted the game up at one in the top of the second inning, when Carter Sharp drew a walk, scoring one run.

Johnston Junior All-Stars pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Bryan doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Grider drew a walk, scoring one run, and Timmerman grounded out, scoring two runs. Gage Mollendor was on the pitcher's mound for Johnston Junior All-Stars. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out four and walking one.

Broshears led things off on the pitcher's mound for Indiana. He lasted four innings, allowing four hits and six runs while striking out one. Huebner threw three innings out of the bullpen. Mollendor led Johnston Junior All-Stars with two hits in three at bats. Broshears went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Indiana in hits.

Johnston Majors Blowout Grandview to Advance to Midwest Regionals

2019 Iowa State Majors Division Champions, Johnston Little League The Majors All-Star team qualified to represent Iowa in the Midwest Regional tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana by defeating Grandview for the Iowa State Championship.  Check out the Game Changer game summary below.  The team battled hard in the regional tournament comping up just a few outs short in the championship game against a strong opponent from Minnesota.  

Johnston LL All-Stars 12u Claims Victory Over Grandview LL Des Moines 12u All Stars In Blow-Out Fashion, 9-2

Johnston LL All-stars 12u cruised to an easy victory over Grandview LL Des Moines 12u All Stars 9-2 on Thursday.  Grandview LL Des Moines 12u All Stars fired up the offense in the first inning. #4 grounded out, scoring one run.  Johnston LL All-stars 12u scored four runs in the fifth inning.

The offensive firepower by Johnston LL All-stars 12u was led by Brady A, Andrew J, and Will N, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.  Will got the start for Johnston LL All-stars 12u. He allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out 12 and walking one.  #27 was on the mound for Grandview LL Des Moines 12u All Stars. He surrendered four runs on two hits over three innings, striking out seven. #44 threw two innings in relief.

Johnston LL All-stars 12u tallied one home run on the day. Mitch N had a four bagger in the first inning.  Lance M, Kolby S, Mitch, Andrew, Brady, and Will each managed one hit to lead Johnston LL All-stars 12u. Johnston LL All-stars 12u was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Jake A had the most chances in the field with 12. • Grandview LL Des Moines 12u All Stars totaled four hits in the game. #34 and #4 all had multiple hits for Grandview LL Des Moines 12u All Stars.

Juniors Win the 2019 Iowa State Championship!

Pitching By Carter Shuts Out Grandview LL All Stars Juniors, Johnston LL Junior All-Stars Takes The Win

Carter Woollums threw a gem on Sunday for Johnston LL Johnston Junior All-Stars, allowing zero runs and besting Grandview LL All Stars Juniors by a score of 7-0 Johnston LL Junior All-Stars opened up scoring in the first inning. Johnston LL Junior All-Stars scored one run when Pierce Anderson singled. Johnston LL Junior All-Stars scored three runs in the fourth inning. Johnston LL Junior All-Stars scored its runs on a single by Will Holm. One bright spot for Grandview LL All Stars Juniors was a single by Brody Watson in the fifth inning. Woollums was on the hill for Johnston LL Junior All-Stars. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over seven innings, striking out three.

Watson toed the rubber for Grandview LL All Stars Juniors. He allowed one hit and one run over one-third of an inning. Austin Fleener, Deshaun Childers, and Carson Medina each contributed in relief for Grandview LL All Stars Juniors. Gage Mollendor led Johnston LL Johnston All-Stars with two hits in three at bats. Johnston LL Junior All-Stars was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Owen Ellsworth had the most chances in the field with six. Watson went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Grandview LL All Stars Juniors in hits.

The Majors All-star team earned a State tournament berth!

With Will On The Mound, Johnston LL All-Stars 12u Shuts Out Urbandale LL All Star - 12s

Will N threw a gem on Sunday for Johnston LL All-stars 12u, allowing zero runs and besting Urbandale LL All Star - 12s by a score of 13-0 Johnston LL All-stars 12u got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Johnston LL All-stars 12u. A single by Wyatt J in the third inning was a positive for Urbandale LL All Star - 12s. Will led things off on the pitcher's mound for Johnston LL All-stars 12u. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out ten and walking zero.

Tanner E was on the hill for Urbandale LL All Star - 12s. He went two innings, allowing 11 runs on eight hits. Owen J and Joesph M entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively. Andrew J went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Johnston LL All-stars 12u in hits. Johnston LL All-stars 12u was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jake A made the most plays with ten.

The 10u Purple All-Star teams joins the club of Divison 3 Champions

2019 Iowa District 3 10U Division Champions, Johnston Little League Congratulations to the 10u Purple All-Star team, who earned the Iowa District 3 championship in Urbandale on June 14th.  In the District finals Johnston Purple and Johnston Gold faced off 3 times! In the end Purple won the championship game 15-14! Congrats to both teams on a great postseason and good luck to Purple at State!  Their state tournament begins on July 20th at Urbandale's Northpark, where they clinched their Division championship.

JLL Intermediates to Represent Iowa in the Midwest Regionals

Johnston LL 50/70 All Stars Intermediate Blows Out Morningside

Johnston LL 50/70 All Stars Intermediate coasted to an easy victory over Morningside 11-1 on Sunday.  Johnston LL 50/70 All Stars Intermediate opened up scoring in the first inning. Alex Boes hit a solo homer. Johnston LL 50/70 All Stars Intermediate put up five runs in the fifth inning. Cole Kinman and Calvin Zenner each had RBIs in the frame. Rafe McConnell took the win for Johnston LL 50/70 All Stars Intermediate. He went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out four and walking one.

Kegan A took the loss for Morningside. He surrendered six runs on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven. Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate launched three home runs on the day. Boes had a long ball in the first inning. Kinman had a four bagger in the first inning. Zenner put one out in the fifth inning. Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate collected six hits. Kinman and Zenner each managed multiple hits for Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate. Zenner and Kinman each collected two hits to lead Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate.

Johnston's Juniors captured the Iowa Division 3 title Wednesday, July 10th at Northpark in Unbandale.  Check out their game summary below and follow them on Game Changer or come out and support them in person as they compete in the state tournament July 20th & 21st at Ankeny's Prairie Ridge Sports Complex.

Johnston LL Junior All-Stars Walks Away Victorious Over Ankeny, 7-3 

Johnston LL Junior All-Stars wins contest against Ankeny, 7-3 Ankeny fired up the offense in the first inninCustom Linksg. An error scored one run for Ankeny. Johnston LL Junior All-Stars pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning.

In the fourth Carter Woollums singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Peck induced Rex Woodley to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Landon Hawes grounded out, scoring one run. Woollums got the start for Johnston LL Junior All-Stars. He lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out six and walking one. Peck was on the hill for Ankeny. He went seven innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out one. Woollums led Johnston LL Junior All-Stars with two hits in four at bats. Peck went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ankeny in hits.

Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate wins contest against Ankeny All Stars on Sunday, 5-1 Rafe McConnell pitched Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate to victory. He surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

Will S took the loss for Ankeny All Stars. He went five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out eight. Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate racked up eight hits. Jack Ruddy and Cole Kinman all managed multiple hits for Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate. Ruddy led Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate with three hits in three at bats. Johnston LL 2019 50/70 All Stars Intermediate tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Isaiah Pinks led the way with three.
